Imran Khan assails judiciary as son Kasim shares statement from jailed PTI founder

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan launched a scathing attack on the judiciary as his son, Kasim Khan, shared a message from his incarcerated father on the social media platform X on Sunday.

The message came after Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that Imran would be allowed to speak to his children on Eidul Fitr.

In a post on X on Sunday night, Kasim — who, along with his older brother Sulaiman, has repeatedly raised concerns about the former premier's jail conditions — said he had spoken to Imran on Saturday, who had then asked for a message to be relayed.

Imran attacks judiciary, raises concerns over Bushra Bibi's treatment

In the message shared by Kasim, Imran assailed the judiciary, saying that they had "sold their integrity".

"They know they cannot break me, so they turn to my wife. How they can allow this inhumane treatment to Bushra Bibi, simply to blackmail me?"

According to Imran, his wife Bushra Bibi was spending 24 hours in isolation, except for 30-minute meetings with him per week, adding that this arrangement was also often ignored.

The jailed PTI founder further stated that it was "anti-Islamic to harm women, children" in the message relayed through his son.

Sons continue to highlight jail conditions

Both Kasim and his older brother Sulaiman have been vocal about their father's conditions in jail, repeatedly raising concerns on social media platforms. The latest message marks another instance of the PTI founder using his family members to communicate his grievances to the public while remaining behind bars.

The development comes amid an ongoing tussle between the PTI and the ruling coalition government, with the party's leadership frequently highlighting what they describe as harsh treatment of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi during their incarceration.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar's announcement that Imran would be permitted to speak to his children on the occasion of Eidul Fitr preceded the release of the statement, which saw the former prime minister direct sharp criticism at the country's judicial system while drawing attention to the conditions faced by his wife in detention.
