Bhat urges solidarity with Kashmir on Eid

ISLAMABAD: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Ghulam Muhammad Bhat has called for solidarity with the people of Kashmir on the occasion of Eid, urging the international community and the Muslim world to remember the ongoing struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.

Call for remembrance amid celebrations

Bhat, in his Eid message, appealed to people across Pakistan and the Muslim world to keep the people of Indian-administered Kashmir in their thoughts and prayers during the Eid festivities. He emphasised that while Muslims around the globe celebrate, the people of Kashmir continue to face hardships and remain deprived of their fundamental rights.

The Hurriyat leader stressed that the Kashmir dispute remains one of the longest unresolved conflicts on the agenda of the United Nations, and urged the global body to play its role in ensuring the implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir that promise the people of the region their right to self-determination through a free and impartial plebiscite.

Plight of Kashmiris highlighted

Bhat drew attention to the suffering of the Kashmiri people, noting that they have endured decades of conflict and restrictions. He called on Pakistan and other nations to continue raising the Kashmir issue at every international forum and to maintain diplomatic pressure for a peaceful resolution of the dispute in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

The APHC leader also highlighted the importance of unity among Kashmiris and urged all factions to work together for the common cause of freedom and self-determination. He said that the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people should not go in vain and that their resilience in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration.

Appeal to international community

Bhat reiterated his appeal to the international community, including human rights organisations, to take notice of the situation in Kashmir and work towards ensuring the protection of the rights of Kashmiris. He called on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other multilateral bodies to play a more active role in addressing the Kashmir dispute.

The Hurriyat leader expressed hope that the spirit of Eid, which represents sacrifice and compassion, would strengthen the resolve of the people of Kashmir and those who stand in solidarity with them. He urged Muslims around the world to include the people of Kashmir in their prayers and to continue supporting their just cause for freedom and dignity.
