Armed forces destroy Afghan Taliban posts in Bajaur border operation, security sources say

PESHAWAR: The armed forces have destroyed several Afghan Taliban posts across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Bajaur sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to security sources on Monday.

Security sources stated that these actions were part of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, which was initiated in late February following what they described as unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban from across the border. The operation targets both the Afghan Taliban and the group referred to by the state as Fitna al-Khawarij, a term used for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to security sources, the armed forces used guided missiles to target Afghan Taliban posts. They emphasized that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq will continue until all objectives are achieved.

On Sunday morning, security sources reported that overnight strikes were conducted in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province. These strikes resulted in the destruction of what security sources described as “technical support infrastructure and an equipment storage facility.”

Later in the day, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that four civilians were killed during the operation. Further details regarding the casualties or the identities of those killed were not provided in the information available.

Operation Ghazab lil-Haq was launched in response to cross-border attacks, and security sources have reiterated their commitment to continuing the operation until its goals are met.
