Salman Ali Agha receives official reprimand for ICC code of conduct breach

Dhaka – Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has been officially reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for violating the ICC Code of Conduct during the second One Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on March 13, 2026.

According to an official statement from the ICC, Salman was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This article pertains to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

The incident occurred after Salman was dismissed during the match. The ICC stated that the player admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Andy Pycroft, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

As a result of this breach, one demerit point has been added to Salman Ali Agha’s disciplinary record. This was his first offence within a 24-month period.

The charge was brought by on-field umpires Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and Tanvir Ahmed, third umpire Gazi Sohel, and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman.

The ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel is designed to maintain discipline and respect within the game. Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

The match in question saw Pakistan and Bangladesh competing in the second ODI of their series, with the incident involving Salman Ali Agha drawing the attention of match officials and resulting in the subsequent disciplinary action.
