Kate Middleton Opens Up About Difficult Reality She Is Facing Amid Cancer Treatment

Catherine, Princess of Wales has spoken candidly about the lasting impact of her cancer diagnosis, describing the experience as a difficult period that forced her to adapt to a “new normal.”

The Princess of Wales, who revealed in March 2024 that she was undergoing treatment, confirmed in January 2025 that she is now in remission. However, she has explained that recovery has brought its own challenges.

During a visit to Colchester Hospital in July last year, Kate reflected on the emotional toll of the journey, saying the experience had been “really, really difficult.” She noted that while many people expect life to quickly return to normal once treatment ends, the reality can be far more complicated.

The royal said that after finishing treatment, patients often hope they can immediately resume everyday life. Instead, she found the adjustment period unpredictable and emotionally demanding.

Kate also shared that the experience has led her to make changes to her lifestyle. Speaking during a visit to Southwark Brewing Company in London on March 12, she revealed that she has significantly reduced alcohol consumption since her diagnosis, saying it is something she now needs to be more mindful about.

During the outing along the River Thames, she also joked with Prince William about his preference for cider while serving drinks at the brewery.

Despite the challenges, Kate has continued to use her platform to support others facing similar health struggles. In a video message released for World Cancer Day on February 4, she expressed solidarity with people affected by cancer and acknowledged the broader impact the disease has on families and caregivers.

The Princess said the experience has reinforced how many lives cancer touches, not only those diagnosed but also the loved ones who support them throughout treatment and recovery.
