Prince William and Princess Kate Step Out for Hands-On Visit at Famous London Market

Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales spent the day meeting local traders and community organisations during a series of engagements along the River Thames in London.

The Prince and Princess of Wales began their visit at the historic Borough Market, one of the capital’s oldest and most famous food destinations. Known for its focus on high-quality and sustainably sourced produce, the market has long been a hub for independent food businesses.

During their visit, William and Kate spoke with several traders, including the Trethowan Brothers, a family-run cheese business that has been part of the market since the late 1990s. They also met representatives from Change Please, a social enterprise that trains people experiencing homelessness to become baristas while providing wider employment support.

The couple’s final stop at the market was with Humble Crumble, a dessert company that began as a small stall and has since expanded to several locations across London.

Later in the day, William and Kate are scheduled to visit the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Tower Lifeboat Station to thank crew members and volunteers who carry out rescue operations on the Thames.

The station, which moved to new premises in central London in 2023, is the RNLI’s busiest facility in the UK. Teams operate year-round to respond to emergencies along the river.

The visit also coincides with celebrations marking 25 years since RNLI lifeguards began patrolling beaches across Britain in 2001.

Through the day’s engagements, the Prince and Princess highlighted the work of organisations and individuals helping sustain the communities and heritage connected to London’s historic river.
