Prime Minister Shehbaz urges FBR to enhance tax collection efforts

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to intensify its efforts to increase tax collection in the country.

According to an official statement, the prime minister chaired a meeting on Tuesday focused on the FBR's performance and strategies to broaden the tax base. During the session, PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of expanding the tax net and directed the FBR to take concrete steps to improve tax collection mechanisms.

The meeting was attended by key government officials, including the finance minister and senior FBR representatives. The prime minister highlighted the need for transparency and efficiency in the tax collection process, urging the FBR to utilize modern technology and data analytics to identify potential taxpayers and curb tax evasion.

PM Shehbaz stated, "Increasing tax revenue is crucial for the country's economic stability and development." He also called for strict action against tax defaulters and stressed the importance of facilitating honest taxpayers.

The FBR officials briefed the prime minister on ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing tax collection and outlined future plans to further strengthen the system. The officials assured the prime minister that measures are being taken to address existing challenges and improve overall performance.
