Imran Khan’s sisters hold sit-in after being denied entry to Adiala jail

ISLAMABAD: The sisters of former prime minister Imran Khan staged a sit-in outside Adiala jail on Tuesday after being stopped at a police checkpoint and denied entry to meet their incarcerated brother. The incident drew the attention of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) supporters, some of whom attempted to approach the jail but were pushed back by police personnel.

Speaking to media representatives outside the jail, Aleema Khan, one of Imran Khan’s sisters, expressed her disappointment over the authorities’ refusal to allow family members to meet the PTI chairman, despite what she described as clear court orders permitting such visits. She remarked, “It was unfortunate that family members were not being allowed to meet the incarcerated former prime minister despite clear court orders.”

Addressing questions from journalists, Aleema Khan dismissed speculation that Imran Khan might be released before Eid, stating, “They don’t want to release him. Just look at the developments at the international level and you will realise why Imran Khan is in jail.”

When asked about the recent hike in petroleum prices, Aleema Khan declined to comment on the PTI’s position, explaining that her visit to Adiala jail was solely to see her brother and not to discuss party matters.

The protest by Imran Khan’s sisters highlights ongoing concerns raised by PTI regarding access to the former prime minister, who remains in custody at Adiala jail. The party has repeatedly called for adherence to court directives allowing family visits.
