QUETTA: Leaders from opposition parties and tribal elders have voiced strong objections to the Balochistan government's recent decision to create new districts and divisions in the province. The matter was discussed at a meeting held on Saturday at Sarawan House, presided over by Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani.
The gathering brought together central and provincial leaders from major political parties. Among those in attendance were Nawab Muhammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai, Central Secretary of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party; Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Central Secretary General; Qahar Khan Wadan, Provincial President; Aslam Baloch, Provincial President of the National Party; Changiz Hai Baloch, Provincial General Secretary; and Malik Faisal Dahwar, General Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Balochistan.
During the meeting, participants expressed serious concern over the provincial government's plan, stating that it disregards the local leadership and political stakeholders. The opposition leaders and tribal elders unanimously rejected the proposal, arguing that the move attempts to alter administrative boundaries without proper consultation with those most affected.
The leaders emphasized the importance of involving local representatives and communities in any decisions regarding administrative changes in Balochistan. They maintained that the current approach undermines the role of local stakeholders and could have significant implications for the province's governance and social structure.
The meeting concluded with a collective demand for the government to reconsider its decision and to engage in meaningful dialogue with all relevant parties before proceeding with any changes to the province's administrative divisions.
