NAROWAL: A violent incident occurred at a filling station in Sialkot’s Hajipura area, resulting in the death of a worker and injuries to two others after staff refused to fill petrol in jerry cans, according to a police complaint filed by Muhammad Nawaz, a resident of Nothen village, Hafizabad.
Nawaz stated that his nephew, Sibtain Ali, was employed at the filling station on Daska Road. The incident unfolded after the government announced a Rs55 per litre increase in petrol prices. Two individuals arrived at the station in a car and demanded that Hassan Khan, a worker at the station, fill petrol in jerry cans. Khan declined their request, citing policy restrictions. The men left after issuing threats and abusing the staff.
Approximately an hour later, the car driver returned with several armed companions. The group reportedly assaulted the staff, striking Muhammad Shahbaz with the butt of a pistol and inflicting injuries. The situation escalated, and the assailants opened fire, resulting in the death of Sibtain Ali and injuries to two other employees.
A video capturing the altercation and subsequent shooting circulated widely on social media, drawing public attention to the incident. Police have registered a case based on Nawaz’s complaint and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Authorities have not released further details regarding arrests or the identities of the suspects involved in the attack as of the time of reporting.
