BAHAWALPUR: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday said the Pakistan Armed Forces were undergoing a major transformation across multiple domains, with rapid technological advancement reshaping the future character of warfare.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief said the nature of war had evolved significantly, requiring a profound mental shift at all levels. He noted that future conflicts would be driven more by technological manoeuvres than physical ones, fundamentally altering how offensive and defensive operations are conducted.
“Pakistan Armed Forces are embracing and absorbing technology at a rapid pace. In this process, innovation, indigenisation and adaptation shall remain fundamental,” he said.
The remarks were made during Field Marshal Munir’s visit to Bahawalpur Garrison, where he was briefed on the Corps’ operational, training and administrative matters, with a particular focus on preparedness for multi-domain warfare.
During the visit, the army chief witnessed a high-intensity field exercise, Steadfast Resolve, at Khairpur Tamewali. The exercise demonstrated the integration of advanced capabilities, including unmanned aerial systems, sophisticated surveillance assets, electronic warfare tools and modern command-and-control mechanisms, underscoring the military’s emphasis on technology-enabled operations.
Addressing the troops, the COAS and CDF commended their high morale, professionalism and operational readiness. He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remained fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing the importance of maintaining optimum readiness to meet emerging security challenges.
Earlier, Field Marshal Munir inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub, aimed at promoting digital learning and skill development for students, particularly from southern Punjab. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reiterating the army’s commitment to quality education and character building.
The army chief later visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance systems designed to sustain modern military platforms through advanced technologies, indigenisation and enhanced combat support measures.
Upon arrival, Field Marshal Munir was received by the Commander Bahawalpur Corps. He also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha, paying tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs.
