A brilliant all-round performance from Abdul Subhan and Sameer Minhas guided Pakistan to a commanding eight-wicket victory over New Zealand in their Super Six match of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026 at the Harare Sports Club.
After being set a modest target of 111, Pakistan wrapped up the chase with ease, losing just two wickets and finishing the match with more than 32 overs to spare. Sameer Minhas anchored the innings with a polished 76, underlining Pakistan’s dominance and strengthening their position in the Super Six stage.
Pakistan’s chase began with a brief setback when Hamza Zahoor was dismissed early with the score on 18. Minhas then rebuilt the innings alongside Usman Khan, and the pair added a steady 67-run partnership to put the match firmly in Pakistan’s control. Usman contributed a cautious 15 from 24 balls before being dismissed, after which captain Farhan Yousaf joined Minhas to comfortably see the team home. Farhan remained unbeaten on 11 off nine deliveries as Pakistan crossed the finish line without further trouble.
Earlier, Pakistan’s bowlers laid the foundation for the win with a disciplined and incisive display. New Zealand, who were sent in to bat, were bundled out for just 110. Opener Marco William Alpe fell cheaply, leaving the Kiwis under pressure early in the innings.
A brief recovery came through Hugo Bogue and captain Tom Jones, who added 48 runs for the second wicket. Bogue top-scored with an aggressive 39 off 27 balls, but his dismissal sparked a collapse. Abdul Subhan then took control, dismissing Jones and triggering a dramatic slide as New Zealand lost five wickets for just eight runs.
Subhan finished with outstanding figures of 4 for 11, while Ali Raza provided strong support with three wickets. Mohammad Sayyam and Momin Qamar picked up one wicket each as Pakistan completed a comprehensive victory in the Under-19 World Cup.
