PTI forms Punjab Legal and Welfare Committee to support jailed party members and families

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has established a three-member committee to provide legal aid and welfare support to party members incarcerated in Punjab and their families.

The newly constituted PTI Punjab Legal and Welfare Committee was formally notified by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja. The committee comprises Haider Majeed, Faiza Murad, and Ali Ijaz Buttar.

According to the notification, the committee will handle all matters relating to imprisonment, legal proceedings, and welfare of PTI-affiliated prisoners and their families in Punjab.

It will convene meetings as required and coordinate closely with the party leadership, keeping the secretary general’s office fully informed of developments and issues needing support or intervention at provincial or central levels.

The move comes amid concerns among PTI workers that the party leadership’s focus has primarily been on securing the release of party founder Imran Khan, leaving the needs of imprisoned workers and their families largely unaddressed.

Party sources said weekly arrests of PTI workers outside Adiala jail in Rawalpindi had heightened the demand for a dedicated support mechanism.

The PTI reaffirmed its commitment to providing legal assistance and welfare support to members and families during these challenging times.
