Justices Azam Khan, Asif, Minhas take oath as regular IHC judges

ISLAMABAD: Three judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) took oath as permanent judges on Monday as the court formally inducted Justice Azam Khan, Justice Muhammad Asif and Justice Inaam Amin Minhas to the bench.

The oath was administered by the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar, during a ceremony attended by members of the judiciary, the legal fraternity, and senior government officials.

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, session judges, the advocate general, high court officers, bar representatives, and a large number of lawyers were present on the occasion, reflecting the significance of the appointments within the judicial community.

The oath-taking followed the approval granted by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on January 12.

The commission, chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, met at the Supreme Court’s conference room to finalise judicial appointments and to examine rules introduced under the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

The session, scheduled for the afternoon, undertook a detailed review of the service records and performance of the three additional judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) before unanimously confirming their names for permanent appointment.

On the same day, the commission convened two separate meetings in which it also confirmed the appointment of a judge of the Balochistan High Court (BHC).

In another sitting, members of the commission continued their review of procedural rules framed under the constitutional amendment to strengthen transparency and consistency in judicial nominations.
