LAHORE: The 14th Lahore Open Polo Championship 2025 for the Patrons Cup, organised under the auspices of the Lahore Polo Club, witnessed thrilling action on its fifth day as three important matches were played. Diamond Paints, Team Balochistan and Newage Cables/SQ Seagold emerged victorious in their respective encounters.
In the first match of the day, Diamond Paints edged past Master Paints Black in a closely contested encounter, winning 7-6. For Diamond Paints, Mir Huzaifa Ahmed led the charge with three goals, while Raja Jalal Arsalan scored two.
Raja Temur Nadeem and Mir Shoaib Ahmed added one goal each. Ignacio Javier stood out for Master Paints Black with four goals, while Muhammad Ali Malik and Sufi Haroon contributed one goal apiece.
The second match saw Team Balochistan register a convincing 6-3 victory over Rijas/Sheikhoo. Marcos Rivarola delivered an outstanding performance, scoring five goals for the winning side, while Col Shayan Abbasi added one. For Rijas/Sheikhoo, Osman Aziz Anwar, Mohib Faisal Shahzad and Mumtaz Abbas Niazi scored one goal each.
In the third and final match of the day, Newage Cables/SQ Segold dominated Master Paints to secure a 9-5 win. Amirreza Behboudi starred with an impressive six-goal haul, while Adnan Jalil Azam, Taimur Noon and Bilal Haye chipped in with one goal each. For Master Paints, Ahmed Ali Tiwana scored two goals, while Abdul Rehman Monnoo, Col (R) Omer Minhas and Farooq Amin Sufi added one goal each.
According to the tournament schedule, Monday (December 22, 2025) will be a rest day, while the championship action will resume on Tuesday (December 23, 2025) with further matches.
A large number of spectators and families turned up at the Lahore Polo Club to enjoy the high-quality polo action, reflecting the growing popularity of the tournament. Prominent personalities in attendance included Lahore Polo Club President Malik Azam Hayat Noon, members of the executive committee, polo members, sponsors and patrons.
Among the notable guests were Newage Cables Director Adnan Jalil Azam, Hamza Ali Hakim from A. Owais, Dr. Faisal Qadeer Khokhar of Remington Pharma, Farooq Amin Sufi of Master Paints, Club Secretary Major (R) Amjad Ghafoor, along with a large number of families.
