- Party spokesperson says incarcerated Khan can’t be ‘minus-ed’ from politics, calling transfer reports a ‘sign of government fear’
- Alleges PTI founder’s sisters, leaders beaten with water cannons outside Adiala Jail, court-mandated visitation blocked
- Lauds Shahid Khattak who sustained fractures in police action, vows to continue struggle for Constitution, democracy
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday lashed out at reports suggesting former prime minister Imran Khan could be shifted to another jail, terming the move a “display of fear and political desperation” by what it called an imposed and panicked regime, and insisting that its founding chairman cannot be silenced or sidelined behind prison walls.
In a statement, the PTI Central Media Department asserted that Imran Khan remains inseparable from the people, warning that any attempt to move him would only expose the government’s own failure and anxiety. It said that wherever Imran Khan is transferred, his sisters, party leadership, workers and supporters will follow with the same resolve.
The party also strongly condemned what it described as a “barbaric police assault” on Imran Khan’s sisters—Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi—along with party leaders and workers outside Adiala Jail, where they had gathered peacefully to exercise their court-mandated right to meet him.
PTI alleged that instead of facilitating visits as ordered by the courts, police used water cannons and force under cover of darkness, injuring several women and workers, while restricting media coverage. The statement said National Assembly Parliamentary Leader Shahid Khattak was also injured during the crackdown.
Calling the incident a reflection of authoritarian governance, PTI said the use of force against women, elders and elected representatives underscored the government’s fear of Imran Khan and his public support.
The party reaffirmed that no level of state pressure would force it into submission and vowed to continue its struggle for constitutional supremacy, human rights, judicial independence, true democracy and a free media.
Meanwhile, PTI strongly condemned the barbaric police assault on PTI founder Imran Khan’s sisters, female workers, and party leaders outside Adiala Jail last night, stating that this shameful act once again exposed the stark reality that the incumbent government has abandoned moral boundaries, constitutional principles and basic human values in its use of force against political opponents
The party said that Imran Khan’s sisters Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and Noreen Niazi along with party leaders and works spent the entire day peacefully waiting outside the prison to exercise their constitutional and legal right to meet their unlawfully incarcerated leader on the court-mandated visitation day.
However, PTI stated that instead of facilitating the family members and lawyers to meet their leader as per the court orders, the government unleashed police personnel under the cover of darkness, who attacked them with water cannons and physical force to disperse peaceful protestors. “This conduct sends a clear message: the government has abandoned even the basic respect owed to women, elders, and fundamental human rights in the country,” the statement added.
The party stated that in the bitter cold of the night, high-pressure water cannons knocked down Imran Khan’s sisters and other women, severely injuring several workers. It added that media teams were pushed back in a deliberate attempt to suppress the truth. PTI emphasized that these actions reflect a mindset where brute force is treated as ‘argument,’ oppression is considered ‘strategy,’ and vengeance is mistaken for governance.
“Our Parliamentary Leader in the National Assembly, Shahid Khattak also sustained injuries in the police assault—further highlighting the cruelty of the officials acting under explicit government directives,” the statement said, adding that the regime has now reached a point where even elected representatives are not spared and are shamelessly trampled under its authoritarian boot.
PTI declared unequivocally that we expect no morality, legality, or justice from this government, adding that the attack on the sisters of a former Prime Minister underscores the regime’s deep fear of Imran Khan’s name and the unmatched public support behind him. It is a living testament to the government’s fascist mindset, vindictive policies, and its obsessive desire for political revenge.
PTI stands resolutely and unwaveringly with its workers, women, and leadership. No amount of state brutality or governmental ruthlessness has ever forced us into submission — and it never will. The party reaffirmed that its struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution, human rights, true democracy, judicial independence, and a free media will continue with even greater strength and determination.
