ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has fixed for hearing on Wednesday a petition filed by Advocate Imaan Zainab Mazari, daughter of former federal minister Shireen Mazari, challenging the conduct of proceedings in a lower court.
According to the cause list, a three-member bench headed by Justice Hashim Kakar will take up the petition. Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim will also be part of the bench.
Imaan Mazari has approached the apex court against the proceedings currently underway in the trial court, where she is facing a case linked to controversial social media posts.
Earlier, Imaan Mazari and co-accused Hadi Ali Chatha had formally expressed a lack of confidence in the District and Sessions Judge hearing the case. They had raised objections to the continuation of proceedings before the same court, citing concerns over fairness.
The Supreme Court’s hearing is expected to determine whether the trial proceedings will continue as they stand or be taken up under a different judicial arrangement.
