Recalling his personal interactions with the monarch, Prime Minister Shehbaz said, “Tonight as we celebrate His Majesty’s birthday, I recall my fond memories of the grand coronation ceremony that I attended personally two years ago. Last year in September, I also received a warm telephone call from His Majesty, during which we exchanged views on a wide range of issues.”
He noted that the multifaceted partnership between Pakistan and the United Kingdom “would not have progressed without the personal interest and patronage of the royal family.”
“We also celebrate the enduring friendship between Pakistan and the United Kingdom,” he added, highlighting that “about two million British citizens of Pakistani heritage add great value to this relationship and play a highly productive role in all walks of life in the UK.”

Citing his experience as Punjab chief minister, he recalled one of the “finest” collaborative initiatives between the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Punjab government, focused on education, health and skill development—a partnership now expanding to other provinces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz fondly remembered the numerous royal visits to Pakistan, including King Charles’s visit in 2006 and the historic visit of Queen Elizabeth II. He renewed his cordial invitation to His Majesty King Charles and Her Majesty the Queen to visit Pakistan at their earliest convenience.
Commending British High Commissioner Jane Marriott for her “meaningful contributions” to enhancing bilateral ties, he appreciated her role in the revival of PIA flights to the United Kingdom. “Now thousands of passengers fly to Manchester from Pakistan and soon there will be flights to London,” he noted.
