ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that fraternal and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye were on a high trajectory, with both nations steadily strengthening cooperation in the fields of economy, defense, and strategic partnership.
Addressing a ceremony marking the 102nd Republic Day of Türkiye, the prime minister said the occasion symbolized the unbreakable bond between the two brotherly nations and their shared journey of progress, resilience, and mutual respect.

He said Pakistan joined its Turkish brothers and sisters in celebrating the historic day when Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk laid the foundations of modern Türkiye, adding that “the fluttering Turkish flags across Islamabad reflect that our hearts beat in unison with our Turkish brothers and sisters.”
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats, and senior officials.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction that the leadership of both countries had held several high-level meetings and agreed to “jointly share their joys and sorrows together.”
He lauded Türkiye’s journey of progress and prosperity, saying that ever since Atatürk founded the modern republic, the nation had achieved remarkable transformation through hard work, unity, and visionary leadership.
PM Shehbaz Sharif paid glowing tribute to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, describing him as “a leading light of progress, prosperity, and resilience — not only for his own people but for the entire Muslim world.” Such achievements, he noted, were a testament to President Erdoğan’s dynamic and determined leadership.
The prime minister said that modern Türkiye reflected a harmonious blend of progress, culture, and civilization, setting an inspiring example for the Muslim Ummah.
He underlined that the relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye was not confined to the period after independence in 1947, but rather spanned centuries of faith, friendship, and shared struggles. “During the Khilafat Movement, the Muslim women of the Indo-Pak subcontinent sold their jewellery to support Türkiye,” he recalled, adding that their sacrifices sowed the seeds of a lasting friendship.
“Our forefathers could not have imagined that one day, an independent Türkiye would rise to return this love and stand with Pakistan through every test of time,” he remarked.

The prime minister recalled that Türkiye had consistently stood by Pakistan—whether during wars or natural disasters such as the 2005 earthquake and the devastating 2010 floods.
Referring to the recent border hostilities with India, he said Pakistan’s armed forces, led by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, had “taught India an unforgettable lesson,” noting that President Erdoğan once again stood firmly beside Pakistan “like a rock.”
He also thanked Türkiye for its consistent support on the Kashmir issue and reiterated Pakistan’s backing for Türkiye’s stance on Northern Cyprus.
Earlier, Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Irfan Neziroğlu read out President Erdoğan’s congratulatory message to the nation, highlighting the historic significance of the Republic Day and Türkiye’s economic and diplomatic achievements.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also cut a commemorative cake to mark the celebrations.
