ChatGPT can now do your shopping. Here’s how?

OpenAI has introduced a new feature that allows users to shop directly through ChatGPT, making online shopping faster and more seamless. The new Instant Checkout feature enables users to purchase products within the chat interface, eliminating the need to navigate between websites.

This feature is powered by the Agentic Commerce Protocol, which simplifies the process by allowing users to search for products, select their choices, confirm payments, and add shipping details with just a single click. The transactions are securely processed through Stripe, while fulfillment is handled by merchants on platforms like Etsy and Shopify.

OpenAI emphasizes security, with encrypted payment tokens and minimal data shared with merchants. Users maintain full control over their transactions and can stop at any stage before completing an order.

Currently, Instant Checkout is available only through select platforms and merchants, with wider adoption expected as AI-driven commerce grows. OpenAI may also integrate the feature into ChatGPT Pulse, offering personalized product recommendations based on user chats.

However, it’s still unclear when this feature will be available for users in Pakistan.
