- Disaster management watchdog says Punjab, KP report highest fatalities, 12,569 homes damaged, 239 bridges and nearly 2,000km roads destroyed
- NDMA, Army, PDMAs conduct 5,768 rescue operations, evacuating millions

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Sunday reported that the recent monsoon rains and floods claimed 1,006 lives across the country with more than 3.02 million people rescued in large-scale evacuation and relief operations since June 26.
In its latest update, the NDMA said that 5,768 rescue operations had been carried out nationwide, during which 273,524 relief items were distributed among affected populations. It added that around 662,098 people received medical treatment at 741 camps set up under the coordinated efforts of the NDMA, Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), Pakistan Army, and other rescue services.
Fatalities and Injuries
Punjab topped the casualty list with 304 deaths, including 110 children, 143 men, and 51 women. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) reported the highest toll in absolute terms with 504 fatalities—comprising 90 children, 338 men, and 76 women. Sindh confirmed 80 deaths, including 35 children, while 30 people lost their lives in Balochistan. Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) reported 41 deaths, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 38, and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) nine.
The disaster also left 1,063 people injured nationwide. Punjab again recorded the highest number, with 661 injured, followed by KP (218), Sindh (87), GB (52), AJK (37), Balochistan (5), and ICT (3).
Evacuations and Damage
Punjab also led rescue operations, with 2.81 million people evacuated through 4,749 operations. Sindh reported 184,011 rescues in 753 operations, while K-P evacuated 14,317 people in 211 operations.
Floods damaged 12,569 homes nationwide, of which 4,128 were destroyed and 8,441 partially damaged, while 6,509 livestock were also lost.
The NDMA said at least 239 bridges and 1,981 kilometers of roads have been damaged or destroyed. The most severe damage was recorded in AJK and GB. AJK reported the destruction of 94 bridges and 201km of roads; K-P lost 52 bridges and 437km of roads, while G-B saw 87 bridges damaged along with 20km of roads.
Relief Operations
Relief distributions included tents, blankets, hygiene kits, ration bags, and food packs, alongside equipment such as solar panels, de-watering pumps, and generators. A total of 1,690 relief and medical camps were established, providing shelter to 152,252 people and treatment to over 662,000 individuals.
The NDMA emphasized that coordinated efforts are underway to ensure timely delivery of aid, restoration of damaged infrastructure, and early rehabilitation of flood-hit communities.
