Pak-Saudi defence pact ‘guarantee’ to dignity, unity of Muslim world: Sanaullah

  • Advisor to PM says Pakistan’s political, military leadership united for ‘prosperous independent future’
  • Recalls nuclear tests and Pulwama response as symbols of resilience, cites tough economic measures under IMF programme
  • Performs groundbreaking of FCCI plot, new digital system and inaugurates NADRA office

FAISALABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan on Saturday described the recent Pakistan–Saudi Arabia defence agreement as a “guarantee of the dignity and unity of the Muslim world,” stressing that Pakistan’s political and military leadership were united in shaping the country’s independent future.

Addressing the business community at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), Senator Rana Sanaullah said the pact reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to protect both its borders and the holy sites of Islam. “Under the agreement, any attack on Saudi Arabia would be considered an attack on Pakistan,” he declared.

The adviser underlined Pakistan’s strategic importance, recalling the nuclear tests of May 28, 1998, and the country’s measured response to the Pulwama incident. “The world has seen that we neither bow to aggression nor compromise on national honour,” he remarked.

Turning to the economy, Rana Sanaullah dismissed rumours of default as unfounded, noting that while restrictions under the IMF programme limited the scope for immediate relief, the government’s tough but necessary measures would yield positive results soon. He urged the business community to uphold transparency to strengthen Pakistan’s global economic image and assured that the concerns of industrial hubs like Faisalabad would be addressed on a priority basis.

During his visit, the adviser performed the groundbreaking of FCCI’s new plot at FIEDMC, inaugurated renovation work at the chamber, launched a real-time digitalization system, and opened a NADRA office within the FCCI premises.

In response to media queries, he said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had earmarked major development funds for Faisalabad, though some allocations were diverted to flood relief operations. He acknowledged the city’s longstanding neglect in infrastructure development and pledged to push for the establishment of a cancer hospital in Faisalabad.

FCCI President Rehan Naseem Bharara welcomed Rana Sanaullah and reiterated key demands, including the establishment of an Expo Centre, upgradation of the airport, and improved cargo handling facilities. The ceremony was attended by senior FCCI officials, political leaders, and business representatives, including Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan and Mian Abdul Mannan.
