Major Adnan Shaheed laid to rest with honour; PM, COAS attend funeral

RAWALPINDI: Funeral prayers of Major Adnan Aslam Shaheed, a resident of Rawalpindi who embraced martyrdom while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital, were offered at Chaklala, Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.

According to the ISPR, the 31-year-old officer had gallantly fought the Indian proxy Fitna al Khawarij during their cowardly attack in Bannu on 2 September 2025. Despite sustaining severe injuries, Major Adnan displayed unflinching bravery and leadership, fighting from the front alongside his men.

The funeral prayers were attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Defence Minister, Information Minister, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir NI (M), HJ, senior serving military and civil officers, and relatives of the Shaheed. The solemn occasion reflected the nation’s deep respect for the sacrifice of its valiant officer.

Honouring Major Adnan’s courage, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan had lost a valiant son of the soil whose bravery and sacrifice would forever remain etched in the nation’s heart. “He represents the best of Pakistan: unwavering resolve, love for the homeland, and an unbreakable spirit of sacrifice,” the prime minister stated, according to the ISPR.

The ISPR statement added that Major Adnan’s martyrdom was testimony to the Armed Forces of Pakistan’s resolve to root out terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The officer will be laid to rest in his hometown with full military honours.
