KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated a formal investigation into the alleged illegal recruitments and corruption within the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC).
The investigation specifically targets former Chairman Noor Muhammad Jadmani and 15 other officials for their involvement in irregular hiring practices, claims of favoritism, and misuse of authority.
According to NAB sources, the bureau has summoned the SPSC to provide comprehensive records of all appointments made under its purview, including documents related to pending and resolved court petitions filed against the commission.
Authorities have given the current SPSC Chairman a deadline of one week to submit these documents.
The inquiry has already uncovered that the initial recruitment records provided by the SPSC were incomplete, prompting NAB to demand a full account of all appointments made by the commission. Sources suggest that several government officers may have manipulated the examination process, using their influence to secure positions for their children and relatives.
In the next phase of the investigation, NAB plans to summon individuals who benefited from these alleged illegal recruitments to investigate the extent of the irregularities and identify any further corruption linked to the commission’s operations.
This latest investigation is not the first time the SPSC has faced scrutiny. In 2020, NAB launched a separate probe into alleged forged recruitments in at least three Sindh provincial departments.
One significant case involved the 2018 examination cycle, where allegations surfaced that the names of qualified candidates were swapped with ineligible individuals to favor certain applicants.
The probe into SPSC’s practices highlights growing concerns over the integrity of the recruitment process within the Sindh government, and NAB’s investigation aims to hold accountable those involved in corrupt practices that undermine fair and transparent hiring.
The current SPSC leadership has been instructed to submit the necessary records by next week to assist in the ongoing investigation.
