PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has called for a parliamentary meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday, to discuss the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s ruling on reserved seats.
The meeting, set to take place at the Chief Minister’s House, will be attended by PTI members, who have been directed to participate by the CM.
Sources within the party have revealed that Gandapur aims to consult with lawmakers on how to address the political blow dealt by the ruling, which has impacted PTI’s position in national politics.
The reserved seats case has stirred political tensions in the province after the Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench (CB) overturned a previous verdict and upheld the Peshawar High Court’s decision, which denied reserved seats to the PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC). The ruling also reinstated the earlier decision to distribute the reserved seats to other political parties.
In addition to the issue surrounding reserved seats, the CM will also address law and order concerns, with a special focus on security measures ahead of Muharram.
The PTI leadership aims to streamline the party’s response to both political setbacks and public safety issues as they prepare for the upcoming month of mourning.
