ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has arrived in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on an official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Upon his arrival, Chairman Gilani was warmly welcomed at the airport by G Rozye, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, and Annamuhammet Sarvjayev, Chairman of the Friendship Parliamentary Group, according to a news release.
The reception highlighted the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Turkmenistan. The Pakistani delegation was also greeted by Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Mr Adnan Zahoor and Defense Attaché Colonel Taimor Mehmood, signaling the commitment of both nations to fostering bilateral relations.
During his visit, Chairman Gilani is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Turkmen officials, including leaders of the Mejlis and other key stakeholders. Discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and cultural exchanges.
The visit aims to explore new avenues of collaboration and further deepen existing ties. Pakistan and Turkmenistan share a history of cultural and economic partnership, and this visit is expected to strengthen those relations.
Key objectives include boosting bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment opportunities, fostering cooperation in energy and infrastructure, and enhancing regional collaboration.
