Pakistan, Ethiopia explore student exchanges and joint research in higher education

ISLAMABAD: Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, met with Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed on Friday to discuss opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the higher education sector.

The meeting aimed to strengthen ties and promote academic collaboration through various initiatives.

Held at the HEC Chairman’s office in Islamabad, the discussions covered student and faculty exchange programs, curriculum development focused on quality assurance, knowledge sharing in educational digitalization, and joint research projects in areas including agriculture, science and technology, medicine, engineering, and artificial intelligence.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal highlighted the emphasis placed by Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed on quality assurance and the advancement of modern technologies in education. He acknowledged Pakistan’s extensive experience in higher education as a valuable resource for Ethiopia’s human resource development.

He also underscored education diplomacy as a key element in building sustainable bilateral relations. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Ethiopia’s educational goals.
