Intense weather causes storms, heavy rainfall, and power disruptions across Punjab.

LAHORE: A 36-year-old man, Ramzan, tragically died in Sahiwal on Sunday after being struck by lightning, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). The incident occurred amid heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and hailstorms affecting multiple districts, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, and Narowal.

The PDMA issued a province-wide alert urging authorities and residents to take precautions due to the ongoing inclement weather, which is expected to continue until May 12. In Lahore, rainfall was recorded at various locations, with Jail Road receiving 3.8mm, and Gulberg and Lakshmi Chowk registering 4mm and 3mm, respectively.

The PDMA advised people to stay indoors, avoid open areas, and stay clear of electrical poles during thunderstorms. Additionally, 30 feeders in Lahore were tripped due to the storms, causing temporary power outages. However, the Lesco field teams worked swiftly to restore the power supply.
