King Charles is reportedly making significant strides in preparing the royal family for the eventual transition of power to his son, Prince William. After returning from a state visit to Italy, the monarch is said to have become more accepting of his role in guiding the family through the future transition.
According to sources close to the palace, King Charles’ health has continued to decline, making him more determined to ensure a smooth handover of duties to Prince William and daughter-in-law Kate Middleton. The visit to Italy earlier this month is said to have been a pivotal moment for Charles, who is now fully focused on preparing for the day when William will ascend the throne.

An insider shared with Woman’s Day that Charles’ hospital stay served as a wake-up call, making him realize the importance of delegating responsibilities. “He knows it’s time to get serious about delegating his duties. He’s much more accepting of his role in preparing the family for William to take over,” the source explained.
As part of this transition, Prince William is set to represent the royal family at the funeral of Pope Francis in the Vatican on Saturday, with Kensington Palace confirming that William will attend the service “on behalf” of King Charles III.
