Faizabad commission report has no 'authenticity' or 'credibility': Khwaja Asif

Federal defense minister and senior PML-N leader Khwaja Asif has termed the recently released Faizabad commission report 'inauthentic' and without any 'credibility'.

He made these comments while appearing on anchor Asma Sherazi's talkshow 'Faisla aap ka'.

Asif said that when he appeared before one Mr. Akhtar Ali who was a part of the commission, it was a very casual and informal chit-chat rather than a serious conversation.

"I realised I had made a mistake by coming to such a serious exercise but it was just chit-chat. I got up from there with a bad taste in my mouth", Asif explained.

He further commented that without the appearance of both Gen Faiz Hamid and Gen Qamar Bajwa, this report was meaningless.

"Only us civilian political workers aggreed to meet with the members of the commission, myself and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi", he added.

Both Gen Faiz Hamid DG ISI at the time of the Faizabad dharna and Gen Bajwa, COAS at the time, refused to appear before the commission.

Earlier today the Faizabad sit-in commission has given a clean chit to the country's spy agencies as well as former spymaster Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, it emerged on Tuesday.

The commission observed that former high-ups of provincial and federal governments did not accuse the agencies or any other officials of extending facilitation to Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) protestors.
