AC seeks NAB report ahead of Toshakhana hearing against Nawaz, Gilani, and Zardari

ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court Islamabad on Tuesday sought a report from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) ahead of the upcoming hearing of the Toshakhana reference involving former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Yusuf Raza Gilani, and President Asif Ali Zardari.

During the proceedings presided over by Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana, NAB sought additional time to furnish the requisite report to the court. NAB Prosecutor Azhar Maqbool explained that Nawaz Sharif had expressed his willingness to participate in the investigation, but due to the unavailability of the investigating officer, a report outlining the feasibility of proceeding with the case needs to be submitted.

Accepting NAB’s request, Judge Nasir Javed Rana adjourned the hearing of the Tosha Khana vehicle case until April 17, allowing time for the submission of the report.

According to the NAB reference presented in the accountability court, Yusuf Raza Gilani stands accused of allegedly allocating vehicles to Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif unlawfully. The reference alleges that both Zardari and Sharif acquired cars from Tosha Khana by paying only 15% of the total price.

It’s noteworthy that during the previous hearing, the accountability court postponed proceedings in the Tosha Khana case against Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari. The delay was attributed to the court’s focus on cases involving the founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at Adiala Jail.

As the case progresses, all eyes remain on the accountability court’s proceedings and the potential implications for the accused individuals.
