Affordable electricity rates vital for country's industrial growth: Dr. Gohar

ISLAMABAD: The Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, has highlighted the need to maintain affordable electricity rates for the country's industrial sector.
Dr. Ejaz emphasized the crucial role of energy prices in fostering industrial growth and competitiveness. He argued that maintaining the current price of 9 cents per unit is essential for the survival and sustainability of Pakistani industries.
The Minister stressed the importance of "not burdening industries to subsidize other sectors." He pointed out that the industrial sector plays a vital role in the national economy by generating employment, boosting exports, and reducing reliance on imports.
Dr. Ejaz expressed optimism that the incoming government will address this issue and ensure continued access to affordable electricity for industries. This support, he believes, will empower them to operate more efficiently and contribute significantly to Pakistan's economic prosperity.
The call for continued affordable electricity for industries reflects a critical discussion within Pakistan's economic landscape. Balancing industrial needs with broader energy policies is an ongoing challenge, and the decision made by the incoming government will have significant ramifications for the country's industrial development and economic growth.
