IHC seeks report regarding transfer of officers on ECP recommendations

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has sought a report by Tuesday on the transfer of officers on the recommendations of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) during the caretaker government.

The court has asked the Establishment Division and the ECP to submit a comprehensive report on the number of officers transferred on the ECP’s recommendations and the reasons behind keeping certain officers in their current positions.

The order was issued by Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb during the last hearing of the case. The court also directed the ECP to implement its notification on transfers without any discrimination.

The ECP had earlier issued orders for the transfer of the secretaries of various departments and the IG of Sindh. It had also recommended the transfer of the Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad. The ECP has stated that changes have been made in the Islamabad police and administration.
