E-passport facility introduced in Capital to facilitate masses: Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah on Saturday said that e-passport facility is being introduced in Islamabad while e-passport processing counters will be established at 30 NADRA offices in various cities.

This was stated by him after inaugurating Passport Processing Counter for inland online passport renewal facility and e-passport facility for the residents of the federal capital.

Rana Sanaullah said that with the introduction of the facility, passport could be renewed online from anywhere in the country without visiting the passport office.

The step would significantly reduce the risks of passport fraud and identity theft, which will strengthen international confidence in the country’s passport system, he added.

The interior minister said the e-passport facility included the advanced security features such as biometric data, digital signature, and encryption.

Through the web portal, applicants will be able to submit their applications as well as upload the required documents, and track the progress of their applications, he added.

Rana Sanaullah said digital transformation would not only save valuable time of the people, but it will also make the process of issuance of e-passport easy.

He said establishing Passport Processing Counters in 30 different cities which will help improve the accessibility of the passport facility to the people.
