29 out of 46 women arrested for May 9 violence released: Punjab govt

LAHORE: The Punjab government has said that 29 out of 46 women, arrested for violence on May 9, have been released on bail and 17 female prisoners are still behind bars for identity parades.

In a tweet, it said: “According to the law, before the identity parade, these women cannot be allowed to meet their families.”

It asserted that the law was equal for all, promising that while no injustice will taken place, the perpetrators won’t get an concessions too. “A so-called political party is exaggerating the number of women for point scoring,” it added.
