72,000 personnel, officers, volunteers to guard Miladun Nabi celebrations: IGP

Lahore: Punjab Inspector General of Police Faisal Shahkar has said that on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (peace be upon him), arrangements should be made under a comprehensive strategy for security of processions and Mahafil organized in all districts of the province.

The IG Police directed that RPOs, DPOs should make best arrangements under personal supervision for the security of A category processions and Mahafil. He emphasized upon strict implementation of SOPs for security arrangements and action should not be delayed against those involved in fireworks and aerial firing in accordance with the law. He further directed that violation of loudspeaker act should not be tolerated in any district of the province. IG Punjab said that security arrangements should be made in coordination with local peace committees and religious scholars in all districts, while RPOs and DPOs themselves should go out in the field and review the security arrangements for large Mahafil and sensitive processions.

IG Punjab directed that CCTV cameras, metal detectors and walk-through gates must be used for the security of processions in sensitive districts and search, sweep, combing and intelligence based operations should be conducted in the vicinity of important mosques, mausoleums, markets and religious places. IG Punjab issued these instructions to all supervisory officers of province regarding the security arrangements for the celebration of Eid Miladun Nabi.

Spokesperson of Punjab Police said that on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabiï·º 1447 A, B and C category Mahafil and 2400 processions will be organized across the province, for the security of which more than 72 thousand officials, officers and volunteers will perform their duties. Whereas in provincial capital Lahore, 122 Mahafil and 223 processions will be held on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi, for the security of which more than 6,000 officials, officers and volunteers will perform their duties.

Spokesperson Punjab Police said that as per the instructions of IG Punjab, foolproof security will be provided to all celebrations of Eid Miladun Nabi and for this purpose the SOPs issued by the Central Police Office will be implemented in true letter and spirit.
