SC adjourns proceedings in Sindh chief minister disqualification case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday rejected the request for a larger bench to hear the review petition related to the disqualification of Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the review request.

Hamid Khan, counsel for Shah, appeared before the court and pleaded for the formation of a larger bench to take up the matter.

Formation of a larger bench is now history, Justice Bandial remarked.

A citizen, Roshan Ali Burirom has requested the disqualification of Shah on charges of holding an iqama (residence permit) and dual nationality.

A bench of the Supreme Court had earlier dismissed the appeal of the petitioner against a verdict of the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking disqualification of Shah.
