Bureau of Immigration to provide one million jobs to overseas Pakistanis annually: DG

RAWALPINDI: Director General Bureau of Immigration andĀ Overseas Pakistanis Wasim Barakullah has said that in accordance of the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Bureau of Immigration has set a target of providing one million overseas jobs to Pakistani youth annually.

He said this while talking to Mr. Khalid Nawaz, Chief Executive Officer of Knight Human Management (KHM), Shalaan & GL Pakistan who met the DG Bureau of Immigration on Sunday.

Wasim Barakullah said that Muhammad Ayub Afridi, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, has taken a number of new initiatives for overseas Pakistanis and work is also underway
to deploy “Labor Welfare Attaches” in Pakistani embassies abroad to better address the problems and issues of overseas workers.

“The incumbent government has increased the number of jobs for skilled and unskilled workers of Pakistan in foreign countries and we have fixed the target of providing overseas jobs to one million people annually”, he added.

He said the role of Overseas Employment Promoters is crucial in fulfilling this target.

“That’s why we have given Excellence Awards to the best performers out of 5,000 promoters across the country so that they would work more efficiently to help government achieve this target,” he mentioned.

On the occasion, Wasim Barkatullah lauded the performance of KHM Shalaan & GL Pakistan and congratulated Khalid Nawaz on receiving the first prize from Rawalpindi Region.

CEO KHM Khalid Nawaz said that incumbent government was the first one which was serious in resolving the problems of promoters affiliated with the Bureau of Immigration and other relevant agencies.

“If the government increases the facilities we need, our community can find more jobs abroad for our youth and achieve more than the annual target of one million,” he concluded.
