Army chief discusses security issues with serving, retired military officials

LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa Tuesday discussed security and other professional matters in a meeting with serving and retired military officers including former army chiefs, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to the ISPR statement, the army chief “had an interactive session on [wide-ranging] issues including professional matters, [the] security situation in the region, measures to optimise dividends of peace and stability and also the challenges and opportunities”.

The meeting comes a day before the first anniversary of Indian annexation of held Kashmir which Pakistan has announced to observe as Youm-i-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation).

The meeting took place at Corps Headquarters, Lahore in which the participants gave “multifarious suggestions” to Gen Bajwa and “thanked him for the candid discussion”. It was attended by General (r) Raheel Sharif, General (r) Jehangir Karamat, General (r) Ahsan Saleem Hayat, General (r) Tariq Majid and General (r) Rashid Mahmood among others.
