PESHAWAR: Following the rapid increase in coronavirus cases, the Khyber Pakthunkhwa (KP) government on Thursday launched a crackdown against those violating safety standard operating procedures (SOPs), imposing fines on 1,985 shopkeepers and sealing 584 businesses across the province.
As per details, upon the directives of the KP government, district administrations imposed a total fine of Rs1,218,700.
According to reports received from the KP chief secretary’s Performance Management & Reforms Unit (PMRU) office, actions against 357 shopkeepers for non-compliance with SOPs included warnings to 268 shopkeepers, and fines worth Rs47,100 on 141 shopkeepers while 115 shops were sealed.
Similarly, actions were also taken against markets which were not observing SOPs.
In this regard, a total of 9,460 markets were inspected across the province in which warnings were issued to 2,808 of them while fines worth Rs198,500 were imposed on 384 markets.
