A girl, 8, was tortured to death in Pakistan after accidentally freeing expensive parrots from their cage.Zohra Shah, an unpaid domestic worker, was killed in the affluent neighbourhood of Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s fourth-largest city. The physical abuse came after Zohra Shah freed some caged parrots that angered her employers who beat her to death and later left her at a hospital when the staff called the police. Police arrested the Bahria Town residents, Hassan Siddiqui and his wife, following the girl’s death. Reports state that the two are being kept at the Rawat Police station.Twitter has been trending with hashtag #JusticeForZohraShah where people are showing their anger towards the incident and asking for Jusitce for the little girl.Child Abuse is unfortunately a common occurrence in Pakistan which tries to cover itself under the guise of religion but it is shocking and sad that pedophilia or child abuse is rampant in Pakistani society.Firstly, in a conservative society like Pakistan, an open discussion about child abuse is a good sign. However, reports of many international rights organisations suggest that girls, if they are abused in conservative societies, try to hide it from their family members and friends.
