Permit issuance process for wheat transportation changed, Aleem says

LAHORE: Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said on Thursday that the government has changed the permit issuance process for transportation of wheat.

“From now on, the concerned deputy commissioner will issue a no objection certificate (NOC) enabling the person to lift the stock,” said Aleem who also holds the additional portfolio of food.

According to Khan, the agreement between the miller and the government will allow the district administrations to lift wheat.

“Anti-horading.profiterring bill is in their [of floor millers] own interest,” he said.

Khan further said that Secretary Food Zafar Nasrullah Khan along with other officers was in the field since the start of the procurement process and he himself would review the process.

He warned that stern action will be taken on the spot against hoarders, saying that the concerned deputy commissioner will be held responsible for the hoarding/profiteering in the district.

Sufficient stock is available and no one will be allowed to create an artificial crisis, Khan concluded.
