Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) formed a rare alliance to elect the mayor and deputy mayor in Abbottabad.
PTI nominees Sardar Saeed and Javed Iqbal were elected unanimously to the posts of nazim and naib nazim.
This development came after the resignation of former district nazim Ali Khan Jadoon, who was elected as member of national assembly (MNA) in July 25 polls. Former naib nazim Sardar Waqar Nabi had resigned after he contested for the provincial assembly from Galliyat.
Abbotabad district comprises of 79 councillors out of which 45 are directly elected.
