LAHORE: Former Punjab chief minister (CM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that Pakistan has been unable to become a stable polity even after 71 years of its independence.
The former CM said that Pakistan’s progress still revolves around a begging bowl.
“The ship of democracy has not come out of the storm yet,” the PML-N president said.
He also said, “We have not learnt from our mistakes.”
Sharif added that he believes in democracy’s supremacy and that is why he went to the oath-taking ceremony in the National Assembly (NA).
Earlier on Monday, at the NA oath-taking session, 324 members of NA (MNAs) had taken oaths.
Moreover, as the country is celebrating its independence day, a 31 gun salute took place in Islamabad while 21 gun salutes were conducted in the provincial headquarters.
