LAHORE: Three important female leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N) are unlikely to be included in the female-reserved seat list for the upcoming general elections, a local media outlet reported on Thursday.

Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon, former finance minister Punjab Ayesha Ghaus Pasha and former federal minister for information technology and communication Anusha Rehman are the three leaders not to be included in the list.

Names of the party candidates are being finalised as part of the PML-N parliamentary board meetings. According to sources, Marvi Memon and Anusha Rehman will not be included in the list due to controversies surrounding their previous stint in power. Marvi Memon launched a tirade against party leadership in favour of some party leaders in March, 2018 while Anusha Rehman was a major actor in the Elections (Amendment Act) of 2017.

Many senior leaders of the party were against including Ayesha Ghaus on the list because they did not want to include an unelected member.
