SHC directs NAB to give report on corruption case against Lanjar

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit the progress report of inquiry being conducted against Sindh law minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar.

A two-judge bench was hearing Lanjar’s plea, requesting the court to restrain the NAB from harassing him with respect to an inquiry pertaining to alleged corruption and misuse of powers.

During the hearing, the counsel for NAB said that Lanjar owned a bungalow in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority area which was not mentioned to the election commission of Pakistan. Besides, the court was informed that Lanjar’s assets were beyond his known means of income.

The court also extended interim pre-arrest bail granted to Lanjar till March 16.

On the other hand, the minister denied the charges, maintaining that he was never involved in corruption or misuse of powers.
