LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri said, on Tuesday, that the recent verdict against Nawaz Sharif was in fact revenge for the 2014 Model Town ‘incident.’
He said this while addressing the media as he landed at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, on his way from Doha, Qatar. He was welcomed by scores of devotees on his arrival.
He is expected to be leading a rally from the airport today, that will end at the Nasir Bagh, Lahore. He said that he would announce his future strategy at Nasir Bagh.
Qadri also thanked God that ‘the article 62 has finally spoken.’ He once said in a rally in 2012, that unless and until Article 62 of the Constitution is invoked, corruption cannot end in the country.
He wondered who Nawaz Sharif was protesting against, adding that the ‘GT Road party’ will be buried on the GT Road.
On this occasion he remembered the PAT members who died in the June 2014 incident, where at least 14 PAT activists were killed in an unwarranted police action against the party’s offices in the Model Town area of Lahore.
Qadri and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a joint protest ‘sit-in’ in 2014 against the government in Islamabad, however, the parties parted ways some time later.
