The Youth Affairs Department of the Punjab government had started the Punjab Youth Peace Core in 2016. It has made youth that is a part of the project, an active part of the peace-building process in the country and has prepared them as ambassadors of peace between different segments of the society. These youngsters have already organised 60 Social Action Projects in their respective communities. They have also spread message of peace at the community level by carrying out peace walks.
Elected chairmen and councilors, educational institutions and academies and other local dignitaries of the UCs were also involved in this process. Bargad assisted the department in implementing these activities.
Now, the initiative is being extended and will reach out to a planned number of 600 more participants including 15 new UCs from the Lahore district.
