Zubair urges religious scholars to promote interfaith harmony

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair has urged the religious scholars to play their role in fostering unity and harmony among the masses.

He expressed these views, while talking to Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman who called on him, on Monday. The governor appreciated that the committee comprises of scholars from the diverse school of thoughts and sects.

“This definitely instils a healthy feeling among Muslim without any distinction,” said the governor.

Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, on the occasion, shared the relevance of the centuries’ old tradition of moon sighting in the Muslim societies.

He informed the Sindh governor that extreme caution is adopted in the process of moon sighting for announcing the inception of new Islamic month and associated festival and anniversaries.
