While protesting for reform in education and waiver of educational loans, Chilean students were dispersed by the local police. The scenes of the police dispersing the students are disturbing.

In fact the Chilean student protests have gone unnoticed, not getting attention of the global media and the powers that be. As an English trainer, I have long been in touch with my students and fellow teachers in my native areas like Tiruchendur, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Marthandam, Palayamkottai and Kanyakumari, all in southern part of Tamil Nadu, India, encouraging them in all their endeavours.

The fact of the matter is that administrative failure, lack of good governance and breakdown in law enforcement will always lead to such protests as Chilean student protests.

Education being a powerful tool that can transform the world, it is the bound duty of the administration at the helm of affairs to help the education sector flourish in all spheres.
